This master bathroom was in SERIOUS need of a COMPLETE remodel. From the vinyl flooring to the shower/tub combo, it ALL had to GO! So we gutted the ENTIRE bathroom. The goal was to open the space up and allow the natural light to flood in.

This project actually began in the adjoining master bedroom. The closets were not functioning at their full potential and there was a weird, too high and too deep cabinet that was just… WEIRD.

bathroom-colorWe had California Closets come in and add a his/hers closet system to maximize the available space. Then we had Stephen and his guys over at Interior Door and Closet Company add a 3 track system to allow for all 3 doors to be open at the same time and new closet doors. We then sealed off the cabinets from inside the room and opened the space up on the inside of the bathroom allowing that space to now be used as an open towel cabinet and storage area.

Space is always an issue, so we opted to get rid of the interior bathroom door and install a wall mounted (barn door) sliding door. Being that this home is not far from the ocean, we chose to keep a cool coastal color scheme of whites, grays and blues with a few fun pops of complimentary orange. We installed gray floor porcelain tiles that look like wood and that are super easy to clean and always stay cool to the touch.

We raised the ceiling and added recessed lighting, replaced the built in vanity with a floating vanity and added wainscoting for a bit of visual interest. Next, we got rid of the shower/tub combo and installed a walk in shower with blue and white tiles and dual shower fixtures (a rain shower head and wand) and replaced the toilet with a high efficiency option.

By choosing reflective surfaces and sticking to a cool soft color palette, I believe we achieved our overall goal.
